Minister

Rev. Dr. Dan RosemergyThe Rev. Dr. Daniel Rosemergy is minister of the Greater Nashville Unitarian Universalist Congregation. His commitment is to peace, social justice, human rights, and interfaith unity.

Dr. Rosemergy is very active in the Nashville community. He is chair of the Interfaith Alliance of Middle Tennessee, an organization committed to promoting the positive role of religion as a healing and constructive force in public life. He is co-chair of the Middle Tennessee Jobs with Justice Coalition. He is a member of numerous boards of directors including Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee. He is a member of the Ryan White AIDS Partnership and was a founding member of the Nashville Interfaith AIDS Ministry, which was active in the 1980’s and early 1990’s in the Mid-State area. He helped found the Nashville Peace and Justice Center and served as the first chair of its Board of Directors, and he continues to serve on that board. He is a past president of Nashville Association of Rabbis, Priests, and Minsters and is an active member of its succeeding organization, the Covenant Association. He is an alumnus of Leadership Nashville.

Ordained in the United Church of Christ (U.C.C.), Dr. Rosemergy concluded in April 2003 a successful twenty-year pastorate at Brookmeade Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Nashville, Tennessee, in order to pursue writing, teaching, and consulting. He is an adjunct faculty member at Vanderbilt Divinity School where he teaches U.C.C History and Polity course.

Dr. Rosemergy attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where he earned both B.A. and M.A. degrees. After serving four years as an officer in the U.S. Navy, he pursued a first career in higher education administration, primarily at the University of Michigan. He received a Master of Divinity degree with honors from the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1982, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the same institution in 1988.
