Mark your calendars and please begin collecting your donations for the annual church yard sale to be held on Saturday, October 23. We don’t have a great deal of storage room, so it will be best if you can hold onto them until closer to the date. Mike Morgan will come pick up things from your house if you ask him. In this year of tight budget, fundraisers like this take on an especial importance for the church, so please plan on participating!

Save the Date! Annual Pledge Drive Kick-off Dinner, May 1, 6PM
Monday, April 12th, 2010Annual Auction, March 27, 5PM
Monday, March 22nd, 2010Join us for GNUUC’s Annual Auction!
When: Saturday, March 27
Where: GNUUC Fellowship Hall
5:00 p.m. – Mexican Dinner by Senorita Sarita Juanita
6:00 p.m. – Silent Auction Begins
7:00 p.m. – Live Auction with auctioneer Christina Bridges
7:45 p.m. – Break to Finalize Silent Auction
The success of our auction depends on your donations! Already we have received several dinners, home-made peanut brittle, original art work from GNUUC congregants and friends, tickets to shows, a Smithsonian music box, a Tiffany-style lamp, and many other items in between. An auction flyer is available online or in the church foyer. Please contact Mary Ellen Aurelius to donate or for more information.
On the night of the auction, the preferred method of payment for auction items is cash or check. GNUUC is charged a merchant’s fee whenever a credit or debit card is used and, to maximize profit from the auction, we would prefer not to have to pay any more fees than is necessary.
As she has for the past two years, Christina Bridges will again be our Auctioneer! We are so lucky to have her…she’s witty and affable…she entertains us by playing the piano while we eat…and she even purchases some of our auction items for herself! Also, our dear friend, Carolyn Clements and either one or both of her fabulous sons, Walker & Collin, will be coming up from Memphis to help us with the auction. As mentioned earlier, we are SO lucky! And finally, Sarajane Powell will prepare some great Mexican Dishes (including a Vegetarian) for us that evening. Here is an online copy of the Auction Nite Menu and the Drink Menu with suggested donation amounts.
Donate Now For the Annual Auction, Mar 27
Monday, March 8th, 2010The auction is our biggest fundraising event of the year, and “live” auction items are needed. We need more traditional items, such as paintings, pottery and antiques, but you can create your own fun events, such as dinners, cocktail parties and picnics. And how about Titans or Sounds tickets? Vanderbilt and UT football? Trips on the Natchez Trace, or to State Parks and Civil War sites; canoeing, boating, golfing and hiking.
Help make the GNUUC Annual Auction our best ever! It’s Saturday, March 27, at 5:00 pm. And as she has for the past two years, Christina Bridges will again be our Auctioneer! As I said, we are SO lucky! And finally, Sarajane Powell will prepare some great Mexican Dishes (including a Vegetarian) for us that evening. We will also have some Mexican beers available, in addition to the usual wine and soft drink options. A small donation will be suggested for both the food and beverages.
Donation forms are available in the church foyer and online. Please contact Mary Ellen Aurelius with questions or to donate any items – by phone at 673-2025 (home), 945-0907 (cell) or by e-mail at maryellen.aurelius@comcast.net .
